It’s deadline day for clubs in the FA Women’s Super League, and Liverpool have made a pair of significant additions before the window slams shut as they continue to prepare for the kickoff of the 2025-26 season on Sunday at Anfield against Everton.
The first and most significant deal of the day was the permanent signing of Swedish striker Beata Olsson from Kristianstads. The 24-year-old has been a regular for Sweden at the youth levels, and over the past year with the U23s group scored nine goals
in 15 international appearances.
Much of Olsson’s recent football was played at the American college level with Florida State, where she averaged a goal involvement every 113 minutes over three seasons and 66 total appearances. Liverpool’s new striker signing will wear the 11 for the Reds.
“This is such an historic football club and the best league in the world,” Olsson said of joining Liverpool. “I think it’s a great step for me and I’m so excited. I’ve always wanted to play in England, and to play for a club like Liverpool is a dream, so I’m very excited to get started.”
Liverpool’s women’s team have also strengthened in midfield today with the signing of Emilia Szymczak on loan from Barcelona. The 19-year-old Poland international has primarily played for Barcelona B in the second division, making 38 total appearances over the past two seasons.
“It’s amazing to be here,” Szymczak said. “This is a big club and I’m so happy to be a part of it. I just felt Liverpool has a bright future and I know the WSL and this league is so strong, and I know I can develop more as a player here and try, and the club can offer me the best.”
