NFL.com’s Nick Shook updates his quarterback rankings after each new week in the NFL and if you’ve been paying attention from the start, you’ll have witnessed Justin Herbert’s steady decline into the basement of the league.
After dropping to 0-4 and once again throwing more interceptions than touchdowns against the Seahawks, Herbert dropped all the way to No. 31 in Shook’s latest rankings.
That’s insane. Herbert, per Shook, is the second-worst starting quarterback in the entire NFL behind only Malik
Willis of the Dolphins. I hate to say it, but the stats paint that picture.
In four games, Herbert has 816 passing yards (28th in the NFL), four passing touchdowns, and six interceptions. He is joined by Drake Maye as the only quarterbacks this year to have thrown more picks than touchdowns. The thing is, Maye has seven picks and five fumbles (one more than Herbert, as well!) but just helped the Patriots beat the Bills on Sunday so he is much higher on Shook’s list because of it.
What a rough reality.
