Vincent Kompany oversaw his first defeat as Bayern Munich coach since Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup. The Bavarians were off it against Arsenal in the Champions League and paid the price. The Belgian
insists that the tournament hasn’t been decided because of this match (both teams are considered favorites) but stressed the importance of addressing these issues in time for the knockouts next year.
“The Champions League was not decided today,” Kompany declared (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “We didn’t lose anything. But we have to react and make sure that when we arrive at the crucial moments in March and April, this game will have played a role for us.”
This is only the league phase of the Champions League so there will be time to rectify any issues, and the return of key players will certainly boost the chances of the Rekordmeister possibly winning the trophy.
