Free agent projections are out, and so it is that time again — time for the annual “should the Rangers sign This Player” polls.
Today, we are looking at reliever Kenley Jansen.
The 38 year old Jansen Jansen just wrapped up his 16th major league season, spending 2025 as the closer for the Anaheim Angels. His K/9 dropped below 10 for the first time in his career, but he still put up a 2.59 ERA (albeit with a 3.98 FIP) and 26 saves. He is fourth all time in saves with 476, just two behind Lee Smith, and in 2026
could become just the third pitcher ever to record 500 career saves.
Over at Fangraphs, Ben Clemens projects Jansen at 1 year, $9 million as the #42 free agent on their list, while the median crowdsource also has Jansen at 1 year, $9 million. At ESPN, Kiley McDaniel has Jansen outside his top 50. Keith Law does not have Jansen on his top 50.
Should the Rangers sign Kenley Jansen to a 1 year, $9 million deal?
