The Cincinnati Bengals are adding depth to their secondary after signing former Nebraska cornerback Ceyair Wright, according to Matt Zenitz.
Wright, at 6-0 and 190 pounds, brings experience and versatility, having made 32 career starts across stops at USC and Nebraska. Wright played for USC from 2021-23, then spent 2024 and 2025 with the Cornhuskers, where he continued to develop as a physical, athletic defensive back capable of contributing in multiple schemes.
As a two-year starter at Nebraska, Wright
tallied 68 total tackles, including 42 solo tackles. He posted 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two interceptions, including a 27-yard pick-six, and 11 passes defensed. The California native was even named a Midseason All-American by The Athletic.
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had Wright projected as a Round 7/priorirty free agent-level prospect entering the draft, so he could be someone to watch for as the sixth cornerback if the Bengals keep that many on the 53-man roster.
While he will not enter camp as someone projected to have a significant role, Wright gives the Bengals another developmental option in a secondary that has been searching for consistency. His size, length, and movement skills make him an intriguing candidate to compete for a roster spot, particularly on special teams.
What’s really helping Wright is that he primarily played in the slot, so he could be an under-the-radar challenger to Jalen Davis and Josh Newton for that role. He definitely looks like one of the undrafted free agents with the best path to a 53-man roster spot.
Wright also brings a unique background off the field. He is an actor and appeared in Space Jam: A New Legacy, playing one of LeBron James’ sons.
For Cincinnati, this is a low-risk move with plenty of upside as the Bengals continue building depth heading into training camp.
