The Milwaukee Bucks are starting off their 2026 NBA Draft class by addressing the team’s distance shooting.
With the No. 10 overall pick, the Bucks are selecting Arizona guard Brayden Burries.
Burry played 39 games in his freshman year at Arizona, averaging 16.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game for the Wildcats. He made just over 39 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, which will give the Bucks a massive boost to their offense. After having the best 3-point percentage of any team in the league
in 2024-25, the Bucks fell to No. 2, making 38.7 percent of their shots. However, the Bucks have to rethink their offense with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s trade to the Miami Heat.
Burries made quite the impact during his lone season at Arizona.
“His 626 points were second-most by a freshman in school history, and he also finished in the top five among UA freshmen in 3s (70, tied for 2nd), steals (59, 3rd) and field goals (210, 3rd),” Arizona Desert Swarm contributor Brian Pedersen wrote.
Burries is someone that can contribute in his rookie year, given where the Bucks are going, but he still has a lot of stuff to work on with his game.
Many mock drafts had Burries going No. 9 to the Dallas Mavericks, but with the hiring of Michigan head coach Dusty May, the Mavs opted to take his collegiate player Morez Johnson Jr. with the pick. With Burries listed as the consensus best player available, this was an easy selection for the Bucks to make.
