The Indiana-Purdue rivalry was back in headlines last week and, just like on the field, it didn’t go all that well for the Boilermakers.
Incoming Purdue athletic director Tommy McClelland, set to take over in January following the departure of Mike Bobinski, took an ill-advised swipe at Indiana during his introductory press conference last week. It went viral almost immediately for its brazen nature.
“We are here to win championships,” McClelland said. “If you don’t want to win championships, go to Indiana.”
Oof, for rather obvious reasons. Here’s a few reminders:

Anyway,
Curt Cignetti was made available to the media for the first time since McClelland’s soundbite went viral and was promptly asked if he had any comment on it. He responded exactly the way you’d think he would.
“Not really,”
Cignetti immediately moved onto the next question.
Indiana’s season kicks off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 5, against North Texas at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
