Manchester City will look to put the disappointment of losing to Newcastle as they face German side Bayer Leverkusen at the Etihad Stadium. Victory will keep the Blues in the top half of the table with
three games remaining and could even see them go top, depending on results elsewhere.
Leverkusen have struggled in this season’s competition, winning and losing a game, but sit close to the elimination zone with just five points so far.
City will be desperate to get back to winning ways after Saturday’s loss and a match against the side that sits third in the German Bundesliga.
As always, our team are here to give us their views and predictions on tonight’s match. Here’s what we think for the Champions League.
Saul
A tough matchup vs a game Leverkusen side. New manager and several new players. Still, think Haaland and company will respond after the weekend loss. 3-1 City.
City 3-1 Leverkusen
Will
We’re up against Bayer Leverkusen!
Newcastle was disappointing, with the likes of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden having off games. Players with their levels of skill and mentality, however, will be absolutely itching to put things right. Expect them both to score in a comfortable win.
City 2-0 Leverkusen.
Thomas
Disappointing result at the weekend, but no time to moan about it. The Boys in Blue host Leverkusen, looking to stay in the top 4 in the UCL. The Germans have had a tough go so far in Europe, so let’s keep it going. A City win and, of course, a Haaland Champions League goal.
City 3-0 Leverkusen
Pete
A win against Leverkusen will move the Blues closer to automatic qualification for the quarter-finals and the lottery of another play-off match. I think City will be up for this after the weekend.
City 4-0 Leverkusen
What happened against Newcastle
No one saw City losing Saul, Will and Thomas all thought we’d score three at St James’s Park while Pete, who wrote the article, posted the article and added the table…forgot to make a prediction. He would have gone for 2-1 Newcastle…honest!
No change to the table but here it is anyway:
