Bayern Munich youngster Felipe Chávez was one of the summer transfer window’s loan departures from the FC Bayern academy. A 19-year-old attacking midfielder and Peruvian international, Chávez found himself in the German second tier at 1. FC Magdeburg, after spending the last Rückrunde on loan at 1. FC Köln.
Chávez has not yet managed a start for his loan club, appearing in just three matches for a combined 50 minutes of action so far this season.
“For a man as young as him, coming out of Munich, this
is a whole different level again,” said Magdeburg sporting director Peer Jaekel in comments captured by Bild, via @iMiaSanMia. “He needs to integrate and get accustomed to the way of our style, both in training and in matches.”
Nonetheless, there is no cause for worry, according to Jaekel.
“It takes time to adapt to that,” Jaekel continued. “[Chávez] has a high level of comprehension, and it progresses quickly with him as well. We are really very satisfied with his development. He has been getting more playing time week by week now.”
Chávez is one of a number of Bayern academy talents who have shown considerable promise. Hopefully he builds momentum at Magdeburg as the season progresses.
