Kansas Football is now on London time as it prepares for a historic game against Arizona State.
The Jayhawks arrived in London on Wednesday, completing the 4,500-mile trip across the bay. Lance Leipold and his team left Kansas on Tuesday as it prepares for a once-in-a-lifetime game.
Kansas and Arizona State will take part in the first-ever college football game in Londeon during the inaugural Union Jack Classic. Kickoff will be on Saturday at 11am CT from Wembley Stadium.
The Jayhawks are coming off
a 38-21 loss to Missouri in Lawrence on Friday. The team got the chance to stay home for a few days before making the trip to London. Leipold does not believe that playing one day earlier or traveling when they did will allow them to have an edge.
“I don’t know if there’s a real advantage in either way,” Leipold said after arriving on Wednesday.
Arizona State made the decision to travel to London right away after its 48-20 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday. With the Sun Devils already being on the road, they decided to make the trip right away rather than returning home first.
Kansas went through a workout at the Grasshoppers Rugby Club in West London on Wednesday. It will also go through its final walkthrough like usual on Friday. Outside of football, the team has activities planned to get to see the city as a whole.
The NFL has been sending teams to London for years now. College football has decided to get in on the action and play a game from the legendary stadium and the Jayhawks will also be part of the history of this game.
