Anthony Gordon is enjoying his first few months as an FC Barcelona player. Performing well for both his new club and for England, Gordon has also adapted well to the club’s culture, speaking a little Spanish at his unveiling and admitting recently he’s trying to learn Catalan as well.
“Eric Garcia has helped me a lot because he speaks perfect English. I understand a little Spanish, but when they speak very fast or among themselves, I find it harder to follow them. Dani Olmo has also helped me a lot,”
he said in a new interview.
On the pitch, however, there’s one player that’s helping him a lot: Pedri.
“I’ve made many runs throughout my career that no one saw, but now I have Pedri, who sees absolutely everything,” Gordon said.
Pedri is Barcelona’s midfield maestro, known for his vision and ability to execute eye-of-the-needle passes.
Gordon came to Barça in the summer transfer window from Newcastle United.
“Adapting has been relatively easy because at Newcastle we already played a similar style—pressing hard and attacking with the team pushed high up the pitch,” he said.
“With the ball as well, because now I play surrounded by some of the best footballers in the world.”
Gordon is aiming high with Hansi Flick at the helm. He looks to history to set his marker.
“The best Barça side I’ve ever seen is Pep Guardiola’s—the one that won the UEFA Champions League with players like Xavi and Andrés Iniesta. I want this team to be remembered forever.”
