What is the story about?
Indiana football cruised to a dominant 47-15 win over Rutgers on Saturday at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey.
The program always names its offensive and defensive players of the game after wins, with said players being honored on the schedule outside of Indiana’s team room, but we thought it’d make sense to give the fanbase an opportunity to voice their opinion.
Why not? Who was key for Indiana in the win? Vote below:
Offensive Player of the Game
- Turbo Richard, returning from an injury he suffered against Northwestern, finished with 204 rushing yards on 13 attempts, good for 15.7 yards per carry.
- Charlie Becker finished with 107 receiving yards on eight receptions, bringing in two of Josh Hoover’s four touchdown passes.
- Lee Beebe Jr. had another strong night on the ground after helping carry Indiana to a win over Northwestern last week. He finished with 122 yards on 18 carries, good for 6.8 yards per carry.
- Nick Marsh had his best performance as a pass catcher at Indiana, bringing in seven receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive Player of the Game
- Jamari Sharpe was key in coverage as Rutgers had more trouble than usual getting the ball to its top wideout, KJ Duff.
- Stephen Daley picked up two sacks on Saturday night after earning last week’s Defensive Player of the Game nod.
- Isaiah Jones was his usual stuff, being in the right spot at the right time to make key plays, finishing tied for the team lead for tackles.
- Tobi Osunsanmi picked up a pair of tackles for loss while tying with Jones in leading the defense in tackling.
