Good news for baseball fans in the ABE area: Lots of potential Saturday baseball to enjoy. Bad news for baseball fans in the ABE area: Most of this wasn’t very enjoyable. The star of game 1 was Otto Kemp, who reached base safely in 3 of 4 plate appearances (a Single and 2 Walks). The pitching was horrid in game 1 for both sides as every LHV pitcher gave up a run, while Syracuse made enough people Walk to have a realistic
bid for sainthood. Lehigh Valley only got 5 hits (3 singles, a double and a triple), but a staggering 10 free bases. Syracuse got the pitching straightened out for game 2 (or the Lehigh bats forgot to show up, depending upon whether you’re a bases half full or half empty kinda person). Rangel did his best to make a case for not getting a September call-up going 4 innings and giving up 5 earned runs on 7 hits (nearly half of them Homers). On the bright side: rehabbing Tanner Banks went 1.2 innings with 3 K’s, no hits and no walks. On the offensive side, they really leaned into offensiveness with Kameron Misner leading the team in Total Bases with 1, as the pigs got one-hit. It was Just Born day at Coca Cola Park for game 2, so an odd day for the team to not make a peep. Let’s pretend Sunday didn’t exist. Actually I’m told that I can’t do that. The Pigs decided get one-hit wasn’t good enough, so they got no-hit Sunday. Turns out if you wanted to see someone in a Phillies or Iron Pigs jersey running the bases your best bet was staying to watch the kids run the bases post-game. Everyone for the Pigs pretty much sucked Sunday in a bullpen game for the Mets.

Raider Tello went 1-3, but drove in 2 of the 3 runs in the 3-0 shutout with a 6th inning double driving in Heredia and DeMartini. On the pitching side prospects Graves and Pan combined for 2 scoreless innings of relief each giving up 1 hit and getting 2 and 3 K’s respectively.
Notable in game 2 was Home Runs for both Rincon and Ricketts (who had a hell of a game, going 3 for 3) and a double for De Martini. On the pitching side there was a clean, 2 K inning from McGowan and not much else of note.
This was awful from the Pitching side, but DeMartini wrapped up a pretty good weekend by going 2 for 3 with a Walk and a Double and Ricketts went 2 for 4.
Jersey Shore 2 – Wilmington 0
Wilmington 8 – Jersey Shore 5
In the battle of the blues Saturday was the game to attend if you’re a Phils fan. As Brandon Beckel got the start and pitched 4.1 innings of 2 hit ball with 5 K’s. Kevin Warunek got the win in Relief though with a solid 1.2 innings of no hit ball. On the hitting side TJayy Walton went 2 for 3 with an RBI, a walk and a K; and Burkholder went 1 for 4 with a K and the other RBI of the game.
Brady Day went 2 for 4 with a Walk and a K, Burkholder went 1 for 5 with 2 K’s and that’s all of note really from the Sunday game.
Lakeland 7 – Clearwater 4
The team with, by far, the most interesting of the Phillies prospects above DSL. Let’s pretend Pitching didn’t exist in this game, as it kind of didn’t. On the hitting side Gasparino went 1 for 4 with a Walk and a K, Spangler (who is off to a brutal start to his pro career) went 1 for 5 with 3 K’s. Bogenpohl went 0 for 2 with 2 K’s, Nolan Beltran went 2 for 4 with an RBI double, and Will Vierling went 2 for 3 with a Walk and an RBI double of his own.
Jersey Shore was rained out Saturday and did not make the game up.
