There are certain personalities in sports media, both locally and nationally, whose opinions carry significant weight. Whenever personalities like Paul Finebaum speak, it’s worth listening.
The New York
Times bestselling author and longtime sports talk show host talked about Kentucky’s blowout loss at Vanderbilt on his show Wednesday.
“I’ve been a big supporter of Mark Pope, but, at some point you have to take a pause and go, ‘Why is this program continually getting blown out?’” Finebaum asked.
Welcome to the party, Finebaum. This is what all of us who cheer for and cover the Wildcats have witnessed through 21 games this season.
Mark Pope isn’t going anywhere, and Finebaum agrees with that notion. But again, he mentioned Kentucky’s vulnerability and being prone to getting blown out on the road.
“I think the way things are going in his second season, Pope has a lot to answer for,” Finebaum stated. “He still has supporters and a lot of people that are behind him, but every time he goes on the road and gets eviscerated, it makes him more difficult to defend.”
Kentucky has a massive challenge on Saturday night on the road at Arkansas. The Wildcats better be ready to battle, because Arkansas is good and getting better.
