Give him the Ballon d’Or already!
Harry Kane keeps doing what he does best, which is saving Thomas Tuchel’s job. He did it in red with Bayern Munich, now he’s doing it in white at the World Cup. As England stared down the barrel of an early Round of 32 elimination, the England captain fired home an equalizer thanks to a cross from Anthony Gordon.
This ended up being Harry Kane’s 12th World Cup goal, equaling the record of Brazilian legend Pelé.
The goal came right after the hydration break, where Thomas Tuchel seemed to adjust some details to make England a little bit more active. The breakthrough finally came in the 75th minute, as FC Barcelona signee Anthony Gordon recieved the ball out wide, took a second to look up, and sent a perfectly weighted cross into the middle.
Harry Kane charged into space and headed the ball past the keeper, making the score 1-1. This gave England the lifeline they desperately needed. England went on to get back into the game and win thanks to a second Harry Kane goal. And what a goal it was.
This went on to be his 13th goal in the World Cup, surpassing the football icon and cementing England’s place in the Round of 16.
