The NFL’s best players at each position continue to be revealed by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, and the latest list includes yet another defensive player from the Eagles. Among those considered the Top 10 linebackers throughout the league, Zack Baun emerges in the No. 4 spot — with Jihaad Campbell also receiving at least some Top 10 votes.
The growing list of Eagles on these lists, includes: Saquon Barkley, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, and Jalen Hurts.
Philly players who received honorable mention or at least some Top 10 votes include Riq Woolen, Dallas Goedert, Landon Dickerson., and Cam Jurgens. The only position groups yet to include an Eagle in the Top 10 were edge rusher, tight end, and interior offensive lineman.
As for the linebackers, Baun was one of just two to appear on every Top 10 ballot according to Fowler.
“He’s got lateral quickness and is an incredibly smart player,” an NFL personnel evaluator said. “He’s perfect for Vic’s [Fangio] scheme, can play close to the line and get pressure or can play off the ball.”
Baun was the only player with at least 120 tackles and 10 disrupted dropbacks last season (a disrupted dropback is a sack, interception or batted/defended/tipped pass).
