Duke won its sixth straight game with Sunday’s 82-68 win over #18 Notre Dame.
Duke took control early and while Notre Dame only used six players, Duke only went seven deep, so it’s not really that big of a difference.
Depth wasn’t an issue when Duke ripped off a 13-0 run in the first quarter.
The Blue Devils never trailed after taking the lead in the first quarter and while Notre Dame cut the lead to 6 in the third quarter, Duke pushed the lead back to 51-37 and that was pretty much the end of it.
Duke
was led by Taina Mair with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Toby Fournier finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds 5 assists and 2 steals.
Duke forced 16 turnovers too, which we kind of see as the defining stat of the Kara Lawson era.
This team really struggled early and whatever Lawson has done, this team has listened and appears to have completely flipped the script: it’s gone from .500 to 9-6 and is now, along with Louisville, Virginia and NC State, in first place in the ACC.
Incidentally, if you missed it, former Duke point guard Vanessa de Jesus, who is one of our favorite Blue Devils of all time, is now playing for Notre Dame. She finished with 3 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in her return to Camerong.
