The 2027 NFL Free Agency period will kick off on March 10th with the negotiation window starting the 7th. It’s a long time till we have to see some Raiders free agents make their move to another team, but for now it’s good to know what could be in the future for the Raiders extension wise, and who could see their spot pushed away. I’ll run through a brief reminder of free agent types, and their compensatory options as well:
Free Agent Types:
Accrued Season: On Roster for 6 or more Regular Season Games
- UFA: A player with 4 or more accrued seasons and able to sign with any team
- RFA: 3 accrued seasons, can negotiate and sign with any team but original team has ability to match an offer sheet and/or offer them a tender as well
- 1st-Round: One Year worth 8.1 million, if original team doesn’t match then the new team must send them a 1st round pick from that year’s NFL Draft
- 2nd-Round: One Year worth 5.8 million, original team doesn’t match then new team sends a 2nd round pick from that year’s NFL Draft
- Original Round: One Year worth 3.67 million, original team doesn’t match then new team sends a pick of the round the player was originally drafted in (UDFA receive no pick compensation)
- Right of First Refusal: One Year worth 3.54 million, original team has the ability to match any offer sheet by another team, but choosing not too results in no compensation
- ERFA: Exclusive Rights Free Agent, player with 2 or less accrued seasons. Original team can tender a one year, league minimum and player must sign or miss the entire season. Can’t negotiate with other teams
* If Player is on Practice Squad they can sign a Reserve/Futures, which is a 1 year, leage minimum deal for the next season. A large portion of these players will be off the roster on reserve/futures come 2027 *

Any 2026 UDFA that ends (but doesn’t start) 2026 season on 53 man roster would be an ERFA, those that start and end season on 53 man roster are still under original 3 year contract.
