Barcelona have confirmed that Toni Fernandez has sealed a deadline-day transfer to Serie A side Venezia.
The Italian club have reportedly paid a fee of around 4 million euros for the 18-year-old, although Barcelona have retained a buy-back option.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“Agreement with Venezia for the transfer of Toni Fernandez,” the club said.
“FC Barcelona and Venezia FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Toni Fernández. FC Barcelona retain a buy-back option and a percentage
of any future sale.
“FC Barcelona would like to wish Toni Fernández the best of luck in this new chapter and thank him for his dedication throughout all these years at the Club.”
Fernandez had looked to have a bright future at Barcelona but he hasn’t been able to break into the first team and the feeling was he had outgrown Juliano Belletti’s Barcelona Atletic side.
The teenager will now pursue a new challenge in the Italian top flight and will hope he can play regularly and continue to develop.
