In Bayern Munich’s Wiesn match against Union Berlin, Harry Kane scored from the spot in the 39th minute of play. Although a Harry Kane goal has become commonplace since he joined Bayern, this specific goal made history. Not only was this Kane’s 100th goal, but he did it faster than anyone elsehas — needing just 98 league matches to hit the century mark.
Kane broke the record previously held by Dieter Müller of FC Köln. In the 1977/78 season, Müller scored his 100th goal in his 129th Bundesliga match.
It took another great Müller, Gerd of Bayern fame, 136 matches to hit 100 goals. Kane blew these still-impressive marks out of the water.
Kane did not stay on the 100 mark for long. In the 54th minute, he scored again. Including his goals in the DFB-Pokal, Champions League, Super Cup, and the Club World Cup, Kane now sits at 152 goals in 154 competitive matches for FC Bayern. The near goal-per-match average is outstanding, and if he can sustain it, we could see more records broken by the England captain.
