The Texas Rangers scored five runs while the Cleveland Guardians scored zero runs.
These Rangers are as confounding as ever. Fresh off a demoralizing road trip that seemed to finally tamp down the dirt upon their grave, Texas procured a sweep of the team that came to Arlington directly ahead of them in the Wild Card standings.
The Rangers were large and in charge in today’s win with big men Rowdy Tellez and Joc Pederson going deep, while a four-run outburst in the fourth inning was all that Texas needed
to finish off the sweep of the Guardians.
Overall the Rangers didn’t even allow a run in this series after Cleveland scored a couple in the eighth inning on Friday night, spanning 19 innings.
Since unveiling the statue of the GOAT Adrian Beltre, the Rangers are undefeated and now they’re back at .500.
Player of the Game: In his fifth try, Merrill Kelly is finally a winner as a member of the Texas Rangers. The righty tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed just four hits and two walks to the Guardians.
Kelly had been a hard luck loser or the recipient of a couple of unfortunate no decisions in his brief tenure with Texas but today he took matters mostly into his own hands with his spotless effort.
Up Next: The Rangers welcome the Angels to Arlington for their final tussle of the 2025 season. RHP Jacob deGrom is expected back on the mound for Texas opposite RHP Jose Soriano for Anaheim.
The Monday evening first pitch from The Shed is set for 7:05 pm CT and will be aired on the Rangers Sports Network.
