The shock of the 2025 NBA Draft came when the Portland Trail Blazers traded down from the 11th position to the 16th to draft Chinese center Yang Hansen. The previously-unknown prospect had plenty of size and gifted passing ability, both of which he demonstrated during that year’s Summer League tournament. But when the actual season started, Hansen was relegated to the bench, averaging just 7 minutes per game over 43 total appearances.
Hansen has done well enough in the 2026 Summer League, but that
hasn’t been enough to inspire hopes for him among the Portland faithful. This week we surveyed Blazers fans about the likelihood of him cracking the regular rotation in the coming year. Only 14% of respondents indicated that he would. 62% said he would continue to play spot minutes, while 24% said he’d barely play at all.
For those counting, that’s 86% of fans responding saying that Hansen would basically be a non-factor this year.
