The Pittsburgh Steelers have added Pat Freiermuth to their injury report, team spokesman Burt Lauten said on X. Additionally, Lauten noted that DK Metcalf will play.
“The Steelers have added TE Pat Freiermuth (calf) to the injury report and is questionable for Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay,” Lauten writes. “Additionally, WR DK Metcalf (illness) has been removed from the injury report and will not have an injury designation as he is expected to play Sunday.”
Freiermuth had two touchdown receptions
against the Colts in Week 5, bringing his total on the season to four. He is currently on pace for 14 touchdown receptions.
Should Freiermuth be unable to go, Robert Tonyan would likely see an increased role as the second tight end opposite Darnell Washington. Pittsburgh will already be without receivers Michael Pittman, Roman Wilson, and Ben Skowronek, so losing Freiermuth is the last thing the offense needs as it continues to lose pass-catchers.
