Tomorrow (May 19) will be one-year since Zoey Stark tore her ACL, MCL, and meniscus during a match on Raw. WWE released Stark
last month in their post-WrestleMania cuts.In a video announcing and charting her comeback posted today, Stark reveals she was cleared to return to action in late February. But rather than coming back soon, she now has 90-days to wait. She revealed that date — July 24 — in the video, and also revealed that she’ll be going by “Zoey Serrano” (her real name is Theresa Serrano)
outside of WWE. Zoey’s also nicknamed herself/that character, “The Purist”.
After the video does a quick recap of Zoey’s injury and release, she talked about how difficult being sidelined has been for her:
“It’s hard, man. So, I don’t think people understand how much I love wrestling. It’s what I live for, this is what I believe I was put on this Earth for, is to be in this ring to perform. This is it for me. This is all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
“Wrestling was my escape. The number one thing in my life. And the good thing is now I get to show that, I get to express that in my own way. So, I’m so happy that you guys get to be on this journey.”
The second half features Serrano wrestling AEW’s Brian Cage in a training ring. She takes the much larger man down before faux-collapsing as her voice-over says:
“So, if I’m this good at [censored] now, imagine what it’ll be like when my 90 days are over.”
She’s clearly got her sights set on wrestling for a promotion with a major national television contract, as the three that do are the only ones she tagged when posting the video…
What do you make of Zoey’s post-WWE name? Where do you think she’ll land?
