After the dust settled from Triplemania XXXIII, AAA is stacking the fallout TV taping with four title bouts, La Parka’s first singles match, and El Grande American in action.
The updated lineup for Sunday, September 7 in Monterrey, Mexico includes:
- AAA Latin American Championship: El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs. El Mesias
- AAA World Tag Team Championship: Psycho Clown & Pagano (c) vs. Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo vs. Laredo Kid & Octagon Jr.
- El Grande Americano vs. El Fiscal
- AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship: Mr. Iguana & La Hiedra (c) vs. Lince Dorado & Lola Vice
- La Parka vs. Mecha Wolf
- AAA World Trios Championship: Murder Clown, Dave The Clown, & Panic Clown (c) vs. Takuma, Kento, & Nobu San
A couple of interesting notes for the card. This will be the first tag title defense for Psycho Clown & Pagano after winning the gold from Los Garza. El Grande Americano is quickly becoming a fan favorite in Mexico, however, AAA is still booking him as a rudo
against a tecnico. Mr. Iguana is torn between two women, and that chemistry could explode when La Hiedra and Lola Vice meet again in the mixed tag title bout. La Parka is set for his first singles bout in AAA. Mecha Wolf is a great veteran to pull the best out of the youngster. If you love clowns, then the trios title match is for you as Psycho Circus rumbles with the Tokyo Bad Boys.
I have a funny feeling that there will be funny business for the AAA Latin American Championship match. I’m going to assume that is the main event, because it was the last match announced. That has been the pattern for AAA in the past. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. won the title from Mesias with help from his father when Dr. Wagner Jr. got involved to punch the cheating Dorian Roldan. AAA posted a video clip on social media to show Roldan ensuring that Dr. Wagner Jr. will not be present for the rematch in Monterrey.
I can’t help but wonder if this is setting up a surprise appearance from Alberto Del Rio. His real status with AAA is unclear. In storyline, El Patron had a falling out with Roldan. That led to Alberto losing his job in AAA after losing to Mesias. It would be fitting for wrestling storyline material if Alberto ran in to screw his enemies and help Wagner retain. We’ve seen it before over the years how a “fired” wrestler causes so much of a ruckus to upset evil plans that the bad guys reinstate him for another match in the feud. That is the kind of moment that would pop huge to close the show. Alberto is the biggest star in AAA, after all.
To be clear, a return from Alberto is pure speculation on my part. We’ll have to wait and see how the show unfolds.
As of this moment, there has been no announcement yet if the TV taping will broadcast live.
