While the signing of Ronald Araújo on loan takes a lot of the pressure off Liverpool’s need to make defensive signings in what’s left of the summer transfer window, a high calibre winger to replace the departed Mohamed Salah remains a priority and midfielder Curtis Jones looks to have one foot out the door to Inter.
If Jones does leave Liverpool, replacing the club trained 25-year-old him will become another pressing need. Despite that, a smattering of reports today have clubs at wildly different
ends of the footballing spectrum sniffing around another midfielder, with Argentine Alexis Mac Allister now said to be attracting interest.
At one end of it, reports out of Turkey have Galatasaray reaching out to determine both Mac Allister’s willingness and wage demands along with Liverpool’s willingness to sell—and what sort of fee it would take. Then at the other end of things, TalkSport are floating Manchester City as potential suitors for him as well.
Neither seems especially likely, as in all fairness to the Turkish Super Lig it’s hard to see Mac Allister making a prime age jump to the Turkish Super Lig. Meanwhile for City, it’s hard to see Liverpool signing off on such a deal unless the fee on offer was truly ridiculous, at which point one would expect City to look elsewhere.
According to the rumour mongers, with Rodri on his way to Barcelona, City would view Mac Allister as a cheap alternative to the likes of Adam Wharton and Enzo Fernandez. While stripped as context Mac Allister might be expected to cost less, the real world context is they’re City please be serious, TalkSport. You dipshits.
