The Cleveland Browns appear to be comfortable at the running back position heading into the 2026 season.
Quinshon Judkins, who led the Browns in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns as a rookie, is reportedly progressing well in his recovery from his season-ending leg injury in 2025.
Dylan Sampson flashed enough in limited opportunities as a rookie to expect some additional production this fall.
Raheim Sanders is still around as the third back, and the team may or may not be willing to see what Ahmani
Marshall can bring to the table in the preseason.
But after the news broke on Friday that the Browns held a private workout with Georgia running back Cash Jones, it may be prudent to keep an eye on him as Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft starts to wind down.

What an Expert is Saying
Jones was a rotational running back who made an impact on passing downs and special teams. He catches the ball with confident, firm hands (zero drops in 2025) and immediately gets north-south. He can shake linebackers in space and has speed to finish. He has questionable vision and run strength, however, to be a between-the-tackles runner in the NFL. He made a noticeable jump in pass protection in 2025, compared to his underclassman tape. He played on all kick and punt coverages, and his effort consistently jumped out (recovered game-clinching onside kick versus Texas).
Jones isn’t a well-rounded offensive player, but his pass-catching skills and the makeup to be a core-four special teamer will earn him legitimate looks at the back end of an NFL roster.
Fit with the Browns
Teams across the league are always looking for end-of-the-roster guys to fill out the special teams unit, and Jones checks that box. He isn’t much for running the ball, but the fact that he has some positives in the passing game would be a nice bonus for a Cleveland team that struggles to have its supposedly best players catch the ball.
Plus, the Browns did reportedly hold a private workout with Jones, and they would not do that unless they were seriously considering him, either late on Day 3 or as an undrafted free agent.
