Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz reiterated the team’s desire to compete for trophies this season with new manager Jose Mourinho.
The Moroccan international, who had an extended break due to his country’s quarter-final finish at the World Cup, was back at Valdebebas as he joined training with the rest of the squad on Monday.
Brahim was asked about how he is feeling on an individual level, and what the collective goal of the club comes down to, among other things.
He said: “It’s clear I’ll give my absolute
best. I see that all the Madrid fans are happy with my football. On an individual level, I’m going to give my best in every match.
“The best thing at a team level is winning titles. This is Real Madrid, and we have to win titles.”
He was asked about Mourinho and the squad’s relationship with the Portuguese manager so far, to which he said: “It’s going very well, because both he and his entire staff are very well prepared. We already know what Mourinho is all about, everything he’s won, and we want to keep winning with him.
“He tells us to be intense, that we have a lot of individual quality, that we can make the difference, but that in the end, hard work is super important. That we sacrifice ourselves for each other and that we be a team.”
Brahim would once again be looking to being an important player — either as a starter or off the bench — for Real Madrid under new management, and it remains to be seen how many minutes he is able to play this season.
