Bayern Munich has been chasing Givairo Read for the past year or so and at one point look poised to sign him, but nothing seems to have progressed past the “interest stage”. The former technical director of Feyenoord, Dennis te Kloese, revealed in an interview that the reason why Read never really made a transfer to Bayern or any other club:
Before the winter break last year, I was actively working on a transfer for Read to Bayern Munich. At that point, several other clubs also entered the race. Their
offers were all around the €25 million mark, with some even going slightly higher (..) The plan last winter was to finalize the transfer, let Givairo stay at Feyenoord for another six months, and then have him make the move in the summer. But then Givairo suffered two injuries. That ultimately put a stop to the deal.
I think that a year ago it was quite realistic that he would have joined a big club like Bayern Munich or one of the top clubs in England. But those clubs adopted a wait-and-see approach after he got injured. They wanted to see whether he could regain full fitness, return to his best level, and string together a long run of matches. Otherwise, I think we would have reached an agreement with Bayern, because the interest was very concrete. I think Nottingham Forest now want to steal a march on the market and snatch Read away before one of the big clubs can sign him.

Bayern tends to be cautious when going after players who are currently injured, have a sketchy injury record, or are injured after investing in them. Think Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Sacha Boey, Lucas Hernandez, etc.
