Former Bayern Munich and current England manager Thomas Tuchel has made his stance clear regarding squad rotation during a demanding UEFA Nations League window, saying that captain Harry Kane is “desperate to start all four games.”
From a recent interview captured by @iMiaSanMia, Tuchel spoke on the balance between managing player workload and establishing team identity, Tuchel emphasized his desire to build a strong tactical foundation rather than constantly swapping lineups to appease club managers.
“I would love not to rotate, to be honest. I’m not sure if it’s possible. My ideal scenario would be to go again and go again and go again, with six or seven players minimum from that start again that we trust. To put the responsibility on them and let them feel the trust. But I am not sure it’s possible. Let’s see,” said Tuchel.
If Kane actually manages to start all four of the games, he will break the current record for most caps for England by a senior player, currently held by goalkeeper Peter Shilton (125 games). With club managers will be monitoring minutes closely, Tuchel is probably facing the pressure to balance all his star players, even though he wants to have a regular batch of starters to create that harmony and chemistry that is so important on the pitch.
