After being an unused sub in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Leeds United last weekend, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah gave a fiery post-match interview airing his grievances with the club and feeding speculation
that his time with the Reds is fast drawing to a close.
Salah was left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad that traveled to Milan to take on Inter at the San Siro on Tuesday, and there’s now big question marks about his future. Even LFC head coach Arne Slot said he is unsure what will happen with the Egyptian King, who has been speculatively linked to a handful of top European clubs away from Merseyside, Bayern Munich included.
Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl was directly asked about the prospect of Salah potentially playing for the Bavarians, and responded by pointing out how well-equipped the team already is on the right wing.
“We have an outstanding talent in Lennart Karl. Putting someone ahead of him now makes absolutely no sense,” Eberl stressed to DAZN ahead of Bayern’s 3-1 Champions League win over Sporting CP on Tuesday (via @iMiaSanMia).
Karl has burst onto the scene for the German Rekordmeister and once again found the back of the net in yet another man-of-the-match performance. So far, the youngster has tallied five goals and two assists from a total of eighteen appearances across all competitions with Bayern’s senior squad.
At Liverpool, Salah has won everything there is to win, has tallied an unprecedented 250 goals and 116 assists from 420 appearances across all competitions, collecting every club trophy possible. In last season’s title winning season for Liverpool, he netted 29 goals in the Premier League with 18 assists to come along with it and was a massive part of Slot’s maiden season in charge leading to league title number 20 on Merseyside. This season, though, he has struggled to replicate any of his former form and seems to have crossed a line with his post-Leeds outburst. If there is an out for Salah, it does not look like it will come at Bayern.
