Last weekend was pretty good for Arizona softball. Four class of 2027 recruits are known to have taken official visits. Four-star outfielder Taylor Sansaver has announced her verbal, meaning four have committed.
The slapper out of Tracy, Calif. is ranked No. 50 in the class by Softball America. She is the seventh-best outfielder and the 16th-ranked player in the state of California, according to the outlet. Her score of 94 ties infielder Charlie Simi as the highest in Arizona’s class.
Sansaver’s addition
to the class gives Arizona the No. 5 recruiting class in the early going. The class consists of fellow four-stars Simi and pitcher Eloisa Maes and three-star pitcher Arri Romero.
Sansaver and her fellow 2027 commits will sign in November of 2026 and play their first regular season in the spring of 2028. Although it’s difficult to know exactly who will be around from year to year these days, Arizona is slated to lose Regan Shockey and Tele Jennings from the outfield after the 2027 season. Sansaver will be in the class that takes over from what is expected to be a small group of seniors.
Sansaver certainly brings some of the same things to the table that Shockey provides. She’s athletic enough to play outside hitter and middle blocker for her high school volleyball team. In softball, she’s a speedy outfielder who slaps and leads off for her team.
In her two years playing for Tracy High School, Sansaver has produced identitical .520 batting averages. She also produced identitical numbers of hits (53) in the same nubmer of at-bats (102) each year. However, she more than doubled her RBI as a sophomore, going from 14 her first year to 30 in her second.
She also used her speed to increase her total bases, going from 8 doubles to 18 and 2 triples to 5. She hit 2 home runs each year. The increase in doubles and triples caused her slugging percentage to jump from .696 to .853. She had an OPS of 1.390 last season.
Sansaver’s speed also helps her on the basepaths. She is a perfect 53 for 53 in stolen bases over her two years of high school. She stole an eye-popping 37 as a freshman before seeing that go down to 16 last year. The reduction in stolen bases was partially offset by the 10 extra doubles and 3 extra triples she hit as a sophomore.
The numbers put Sansaver on the 2025 MaxPreps All-Sac-Joaquin Section first team and made her an all-league selection last year. Her team went 28-3 and won their league with a 14-1 record. It was an improvement over the team’s 25-5-1 record her freshman season.
She plays travel ball for Love the Game (LTG) Lions Henderson in Elk Grove, Calif. where Prep Softball had her as one of the five California players to watch this season.
