Brandon Moreno isn’t wasting any time getting back on the horse.
The promotion announced on Friday that the former, two-time flyweight champion is making a quick turnaround following a second-round TKO
loss to Tatsuro Taira this past Saturday at UFC 323. Moreno faces Asu Almabayev in the main event of UFC Mexico, which takes place Feb. 28 at Arena CDMX in Mexico City. The card streams exclusively on Paramount+.
Vestnik MMA first reported the bout on Twitter.
Moreno returns to the headline spot in Mexico City looking to repeat his success in March where he defeated past title challenger Steve Erceg via unanimous decision. Prior to that, “The Assassin Baby” snapped a two-fight skid with a lopsided decision win over Amir Albazi in the main event of UFC Edmonton in November 2024.
After getting stopped by Manel Kape in his first UFC headliner at UFC Vegas 103 in March, Almabayev bounced back with back-to-back victories. In his most recent appearance at UFC Qatar in November, the 31-year-old delivered a comeback submission win over Alex Perez. Almabayev is 6-1 in the promotion.
