The Pittsburgh Steelers are back on the practice field in what will be their final round of OTAs. With mandatory minicamp having already taken place, there were some notable Steelers who didn’t appear to be present on Tuesday’s practice, including two quarterbacks.
Both Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph weren’t on the field, leaving Will Howard and Drew Allar as the only two signal-callers. This meant more work for the two young quarterbacks – something Allar says he hopes to take full advantage of.
“It’s definitely a big week,” Allar said via 93.7 The Fan. “I try to take as many mental reps as I can throughout the practice, but it’s definitely different when you’re the one taking those reps and kind of logging those in your memory bank… so it’s definitely a big week. Just trying to take it a play at a time and really just grow from each play. Whether it’s a good throw or bad throw or whatever the case is, just learn from it and grow from it.”
Allar and Howard getting all the reps this week should only help each of them in their respective developments, as each quarterback tries his hardest to earn spots on the depth chart as high as possible.
