Happy Easter, folks!
The Bruins are right back at it several states away, facing the Flyers in Philadelphia less than 24 hours after losing in Florida.
The Flyers will be better rested, as they last played on Long Island on Friday.
Today’s basics:
- When: Today, 3:30ish PM
- Where: Xfinity Mobile Arena – Philadelphia, PA
- How to follow: TNT, HBO Max, TruTV, 98.5 The Sports Hub
- Opposing perspective: Broad Street Hockey
The Flyers have gone on a nice run of late to remain in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, with a 7-3-0 mark in their last ten.
They won the last meeting between these two teams, 3-1 in Philly back on February 28.
That game saw the teams go more than 43
minutes without scoring before the Flyers went up 2-0 in the third. It was exactly a barn-burner, I guess is the take-home point here.
Porter Martone, drafted one spot ahead of James Hagens last June, made his NHL debut for Philly on March 31. He recorded his first NHL point (an assist) against Detroit two games ago, while also landing a Pastrnak-esque NINE shots on goal.
It’s fair to call this one A Big Game™, with the Bruins looking to end a two-game skid and the Flyers looking to stay in playoff contention.
The Bruins are far from comfortably in a playoff spot themselves, so there’s plenty at stake.
Along with this game, others today with Bruins-related playoff implications include Minnesota vs. Detroit, Carolina vs. Ottawa, New Jersey vs. Montreal (again), and Washington vs. the New York Rangers.
I’m trying to find a good Easter-related lead-in here: “WILL THE BRUINS FIND A GOLDEN EGG, OR LAY AN EGG OF THEIR OWN TODAY? TUNE IN TO TNT TO FIND OUT!”
I think you can see why my major was print journalism, not broadcast journalism (how’s that working out for me?), but we’ll work on it.
Bruins! Flyers! Both on TV and live in Pennsylvania!
Discuss.
