Marc Bernal has been chatting about his injury nightmare and revealed how Gavi really helped him on the comeback trail.
Gavi’s had to deal with his own injury problems in recent years, and Bernal says his team-mate was a big help throughout his rehabilitation.
“Especially Gavi, who had gone through the same thing the previous year,” he told Marca.
“He helped me, telling me more or less what he had also felt. He helped me a lot from the beginning when I got injured and especially at the end.”
Bernal is
now back playing for Barcelona and has also been called up to Spain’s Under-21 team.
The midfielder is part of a talented crop of La Masia graduates – the 2007 generation – and says it’s a dream to be playing among friends.
“Yes, I think it’s unique, very special. Especially because of the relationship we have and because of the players who are coming through and those who are still to come,” he added.
“In the end, we experienced many things together as children, we dreamed together. And now being here on the first team is very special.
“I’ve been with Lamine since we were pre-Benjamin (U8s) and with Cubarsí a little later. It’s a great source of satisfaction.”
Bernal will be hoping to feature against Cyprus and Kosovo with Spain’s Under 21s before heading back to Barcelona.
