Roosevelt Sousa and Gabi Pessanha took home the most prestigious titles by winning double gold, but it was two Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) rising starts that stole the show at the 2025 IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship.
In their first year since getting promoted, Ana Mayordomo and Sarah Galvao each won their first major IBJJF title at black belt, taking No Gi Pans gold at the featherweight and middleweight divisions, respectively.

Spain’s new BJJ star: Ana Mayordomo runs through ADCC, UFC BJJ and IBJJF Pans
Spain has a new BJJ star. Ana Mayordomo is on quite an incredible run, with breakthrough performances that saw her win at three major BJJ events in less than a month.
Just three days since taking home Submission of the Night honors at UFC BJJ 3, Mayordomo went on to win gold at the 2025 IBJJF No Gi Pans. She landed two submissions in her three matches, and became the first Spaniard to win the major tournament.
The 25-year-old rising star also previously won gold at the 2025 ADCC EMEA Trials, dominating the field and getting a perfect four submissions in four matches. With ADCC, UFC BJJ and now IBJJF Pans, that makes for eight wins in three major events, all within the past month alone.
Mayordomo is breaking out as a legitimate BJJ star and top ranked athlete, and it’ll be interesting to see how far she can go in her professional career. She earned her black belt under UFC vet Eliot Marshall, and has also recently been training with Gordon Ryan’s team at Kingsway.

Sarah Galvao’s clutch performance wins her first major black belt title
Sarah Galvao, who recently beat a reigning ADCC champ at CJI 2, won four matches at the 2025 IBJJF No Gi Pans. This included three submission victories, along with a clutch performance that clinched her gold medal win in the last few seconds of the finals. Down 2-0 early, Galvao came from behind to land a sweep and a last second takedown to score four points and win the tournament.
Watch the highlights below:
The 19-year-old daughter of BJJ legend Andre Galvao has now won her first major BJJ title, just four months since she won the brown belt world championship and got promoted to black belt. Fellow teen prodigy Helena Crevar initially signed up at the same weight on this tournament, but she pulled out at the last minute, postponing a potential rematch and continuation of that rivalry.
Mayssa Bastos scores 34 points to win IBJJF No Gi Pans
Outside of the two double gold medalists and the two rising stars mentioned above, several other BJJ champions shined at the 2025 IBJJF No Gi Pans. Notable performances include gold medal runs from Julian Espinosa, Pawel Jaworski, Elder Cruz, and Mayssa Bastos.
The latter had the finals scoreboard looking a lot more like basketball than jiu-jitsu. 10-time IBJJF world champion Mayssa Bastos somehow wasn’t happy with her performance without a finish, but she shut her opponent out and took gold by scoring a whopping 34 points!

Julian Espinosa won also gold in a stacked bracket that had fellow BJJ pros Max Hanson and Gianni Grippo competing. CJI vet Pawel Jaworski’s run was also notable, as he won gold at 189 lbs, before facing much larger opponents and taking bronze in the absolute division.
Wrestlers turned professional BJJ grapplers also competed at brown belt, with Michael Pixley taking gold with all submissions, and Brandon Reed taking silver.
