Was there any other option for the NFL to choose for the NFC Special Teams Player of the week than Seattle Seahawks kicker Jason Myers?
After Myers split the uprights six times on Sunday, including a 56-yard game-winning field goal, to set a franchise record and will the Seahawks past the Indianapolis Colts, you’d be hard pressed to find one. His performance earned him his second Special Teams Player of the Week award as a Seahawk, just one shy of tying the franchise record held by John Brown.
Myers’ honor continues his hot streak in the 2025 season after being named Special Teams Player of the Month by the league in November. He becomes the fourth Seahawks player to earn the weekly honor, joining Demarcus Lawrence, Ernest Jones IV and most recently Rashid Saheed.
Since joining the Seahawks in 2019, Myers has provided a stable and reliable presence at kicker that few teams in the league have found. While he hasn’t always been perfect, his 2025 season has been magical. Myers’ 37 made field goals puts him on pace to set a new NFL record for field goals made in a season, which is currently held by David Akers with 44.
With three games remaining, the veteran needs at least three field goals per game. Clearly a doable task, seeing as he hit six last week, but I have an inkling Seahawks fans would prefer to see him make some extra points as opposed to writing his name in the record book.
