With the 254th pick the Indianapolis Colts have selected Oklahoma, Wide Receiver, Deon Burks.
Burks will slide right into a Colts team that already features Alec Pierce and Josh Downs set to play major roles at receiver in 2026. After the Colts traded Michael Pittman Jr. to the Steelers earlier in the season, it stands to reason Burks will have a chance to make the roster while the receiver room
works itself out in training camp, during the preseason and into the early weeks of the year.
Here is what I said said about about Burks leading up to the draft:
Deion Burks Oklahoma- 9.11 RAS if Burks lands in Indy he would instantly become the teams fastest receiver. Running a 4.30 second 40 yard dash at the combine. With that said, he didn’t consistently win on deep routes, not that he needs to as Alec Pierce has that role locked down for the Colts, it’s still interesting to note a guy with that kind of speed. Burks is noted as a good route runner and is good after the catch. Burks has short arms and might be a slot-only receiver at the next level but the route running and athleticism might be too much to pass up in the third round.
And with that the Indianapolis Colts 2026 NFL Draft is in the books. Over the past two days we’ve watched the team draft 8 players we all hope will contribute to the team in some way. We should all hope they’ve drafted 8 Hall of Famers this weekend. In reality we’ll start to see these guys separate themselves over the next several months and September can’t get here soon enough.
Thanks for sticking with Stampede Blue for your draft coverage. Make sure you follow along for all of your undrafted free agent signings as well.
