What is the story about?

The 2026-27 NBA season is here, and 26 former Kentucky Basketball players are on opening day rosters. That’s the most of any college program and is the 15th straight season in which the Wildcats led the way.

Kentucky has at least one player on 19 of 30 NBA teams. The Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs lead the way with three Wildcats on their rosters, while the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Houston Rockets each have two.

This past season, Karl-Anthony Towns won an NBA championship

with the New York Knicks, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won his second consecutive NBA MVP award, which came a year after he won a title with the Thunder.

Here’s to hoping for another banner year for former Wildcats in the NBA!
