The Philadelphia Eagles got some good news ahead of their Week 8 Sunday Night Football game against the Washington Commanders with the Dallas Cowboys choking and losing to the Arizona Cardinals!
It seemed like the Cowboys were cruising to a win. They took a 14-point lead late in the third quarter and Arizona was not seriously threatening to come out on top:
But the Cardinals made a quarterback change from Jacoby Brissett to former Eagles backup Gardner Minshew. And that change clearly paid off with
Minshew going 17/23 for 188 passing yards, three touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a 137.3 passer rating.
It was then the Cardinals who nearly had the game won; they scored a touchdown with just six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter … but Chad Ryland missed the go-ahead extra point to keep it tied at 30 points each.
The Cardinals then went three-and-out to begin overtime, allowing the Cowboys to win the game with a field goal make. But former Eagles edge rusher Josh Sweat came up with a huge third down sack to force Dallas into a punt.
From there, the Cardinals drove into field goal range for the win!
Some quick thoughts:
- Can’t wait to talk about this loss with RJ Ochoa on The NFC East Mixtape this week!
- Lololololololololololololol Cowboys.
- The Cowboys truly are owned by the Cardinals. So funny that that’s their boogeyman.
- Man, this Dallas defense is DREADFUL. Former Eagles defensive assistant Christian Parker might not survive this season. Might get fired as soon as this week?
- This Cowboys loss helps to keep the Eagles alive in the division, though the Birds need to do their part and actually beat Washington on Sunday night. Or else any talk of winning the NFC East is silly.
