The National Football League announced its Pro Bowl rosters on Tuesday morning, and it was a nice Christmas present for three players on the Buffalo Bills. Quarterback Josh Allen was selected along with running back James Cook III and left tackle Dion Dawkins.
Allen usually elects to golf instead of attending
the Pro Bowl due to his own reasons, but this is the fourth time he has been selected in his career. His four selections put him in solid company, as Jack Kemp (6) and Jim Kelly (5) are the other Bills QBs to be selected at least four times.
Cook is having one of the best seasons in the league when it comes to running backs. He leads the league in games where he has rushed for over 100 yards with nine, and he has 12 rushing touchdowns on the season. Cook also leads the league in total rushing yards with 1,532 through Week Sixteen. This marks the third time he has been selected to the Pro Bowl.
Then, there is the anchor on the outside in Dion Dawkins. His fifth Pro Bowl selection makes him the first Bills offensive lineman to be selected at least five times since Ruben Brown. It has been quite a year for Dawkins, as he received a key to the City of Buffalo and was named a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. He is coming off a flu game last week, losing 14 pounds due to illness. He then had to line up against Myles Garrett when the team took on the Cleveland Browns.
The Pro Bowl Games may not be like the traditional game of old, which was an exhibition played between the NFC and the AFC, but it is still a mile-marker for players in terms of accomplishment. Many players have bonuses written into their contracts centered on Pro Bowl selections. The Pro Bowl Games are a series of skill contests, and they include a seven-on-seven game of flag football. The Pro Bowl Games will take place on Tuesday, February 3, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
