Nebraska 3 vs Wisconsin 0- 25-22, 25-19, 25-13
Nebraska volleyball is really good. It probably didn’t take a win over #11 Wisconsin to prove that but the evidence mounting to support this claim is piling up. They beat opposing teams, and we watch them get better while they do it. Nebraska got better in the match, and they also wore out and figured out the Badgers.
Tonight, Nebraska beat Wisconsin soundly and solidly. While sets one and two were competitive and contested, set three was all Huskers and never
in doubt. It sure seems healthy for the Huskers to be challenged by an opponent and forced to work very hard for points when the set is on the line. That hasn’t happened in all their matches this season.
Wisconsin forced Nebraska into another gear during the last five points of set one. Nebraska seemed to test the gas pedal and see just how fast and hard they could go. There were balls out of the normal system and passing lanes and Husker players still remained in control and playing as a unit. This type of play comes from lot of repetition and playing through various scenarios as a team.
Harper Murray led all players with 15 kills. Andi Jackson and Rebekah Allick were dominate in the middle and available anytime Bergen Reilly went to them for the attack and kill. Jackson specifically terminated the ball with such impressive efficiency. Tonight, she hit .600!
Reilly was another specific highlight on both sides of the ball. She was offensive at all the right times and played a bunch of floor defense. Reilly finished the night with three kills and eight digs.
Nebraska returns to their home court on Sunday against Oregon at 1 pm.
