Andrew Painter was on the bump for the IronPigs and he had himself a solid outing. He struck out eight in his five innings of work, giving up two runs in those innings to take the loss for Lehigh Valley. He took that loss because the offense was summarily shut down from scoring despite multihit games from Keaton Anthony, Otto Kemp, Carter Kieboom and Paul McIntosh. It has to be encouraging a bit
for Painter to have a good outing considering his last few have not gone well.

Jean Cabrera had six shutout innings?!? JEAN CABRERA?!?!?!
Having been DFA’ed off of the Phillies’ 40 man roster amid an absolutely miserable season, Cabrera turned in a great start tonight, allowing only four hits and a walk, striking out four. He’s probably fallen way too far out of the good graces of the organization to get back into consideration for a possible start with Philadelphia later in the season, but it has to feel good for him to see that he can still do something like this. On offense, Caleb Ricketts had two hits on the evening, one of them a double, and scoring two runs. Kehden Hettiger had an RBI hit for the Fightin’ Phils while Luke Ritter also had an RBI.

This one is kind of a shame as there were multiple good performances here of note. Griffin Burkholder has been in a bit of a slump lately, but last night had two hits, one an RBI double. Nathan Humphreys had two hits and two RBI while Robert Phelps had three hits and two RBI. On the mound, Sean Youngerman had four innings of shutout ball where he allowed two hits and two walks and struck out four, a solid outing. However, that was undone by a bad inning from James Tallon where he allowed four runs on four hits and a walk. Marty Gair, who has generated some recent interest, had a rough inning where he allowed three walks and a hit to let in a run that won the game for the Tortugas.
