In our final SB Nations Reacts! of the 2026 World Cup, we want to know who Liverpool fans are rooting for of the four remaining countries in the competition and with most of the games now played which Liverpool player you think performed best at the tournament.
In the past, we’ve asked who people think will win. Before the World Cup kicked off, TLO readers had Spain as very slight favourites ahead of France with both earning around a third of the vote. Heading into the Round of 16 matches over the weekend,
that had shifted heavily in favour of France.
We’re not going to lie, if we were betting they’d be our choice, too. But are they who people want to see win? Are they who you’re rooting for? Or of the four remaining nations would you rather see Spain, England, or Argentina win it all?
Meanwhile, on the player front only Alexis Mac Allister remains (along with new signing Victor Muñoz of Spain, but he hasn’t played yet). After a tough year at the club level, Mac Allister has been back to his best and key to Argentina getting this far and still having a chance to win.
He’s not the only Red who’s had a good World Cup, though. Alisson Becker was one of the few Brazilian players to emerge with any credit after they were knocked out by Norway, Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk were both key to for the Netherlands at each end of the pitch, and after a year of barely playing at the club level Alexander Isak was Sweden’s best player.
Drop your vote, leave a comment if you’re so inclined to explain your selection (or to tell us why we should have had another Liverpool player in the mix perhaps!), and we’ll see you in a few days with the results!
