The Los Angeles Rams were one of four teams to have multiple team representatives on hand for Saturday’s college football game between top-ranked Texas and Tennessee. Although the Rams are highly unlikely to be scouting Heisman candidate Arch Manning for anything more than fun, the Longhorns do have multiple day two prospects who could definitely interest Les Snead and company in the 2027 NFL Draft.
That includes a receiver, a tackle, and a linebacker.
The Rams could be interested in Texas receiver Cam Coleman, a potential second or third-round pick in 2027. Because L.A. traded their first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett, the Rams won’t be picking on day one unless they part with a premium player like Puka Nacua.
The 6’3, 201-lb Coleman is described as a “Long, fluid boundary target who high-points and adjusts outside his frame” per NFLDraftBuzz. Catches like this one on Saturday show that to be true:
Coleman would not necessarily be as good as Nacua, however. He is said to go down on first contact too often and has problems securing the football. That may not sound like a “Rams receiver” type to me.
Texas has two tackles who could be drafted in the top-50 next year, including Melvin Siani and Trevor Goosby. Which of them goes first is still a matter of debate. Goosby is said to be stronger, whereas Siani is more flexible. The Rams are going to have an offensive line issue to address after the season, as four of the five starters are free agents. If Warren McClendon leaves in free agency, L.A. will definitely be thinking of taking a tackle with their first pick.
That or a tackle who could move to guard. Keagen Trost is still just an idea, not a player who is even healthy.
Finally, what about linebacker Rasheem Biles?
The biggest need on the Rams defense would be addressed. Biles had 13 tackles, a sack, and two tackles for a loss against Tennessee.
If the Rams are drafting, say, 64th, they might need to trade up for Biles. And it could be worth it.
There are plenty of other players worth scouting from this game. Running back DeSean Bishop, receiver Mike Matthews, and linebacker Arion Carter are all players on Tennessee who could draft interest in the draft next year.
But if I had to guess, the Rams were there to see the Longhorns.
