We are back over on the Pride of Detroit YouTube channel with another All-22 breakdown of another member of the Detroit Lions 2026 draft class, Michigan edge rusher Derrick Moore. If you are looking for the first edition of this series where we broke down the tape of Lions first-round selection Blake Miller, you can find that video right here.
To prep for this video, myself and my good friend and host of the PODcast, Meko Scott, watched two games from Moore’s final season in Ann Arbor. We would have
watched more, but like Meko said—finding college film might be as difficult as finding the One Piece. With that said, there was plenty to take away from the games we did watch, which included games against USC, as well as a matchup against Washington. Spoiler alert—you will want to stick around to catch the back half of the video, where Moore was dominant in Michigan’s win over the Huskies.
In short, you can see why decision-makers like Lions general manager Brad Holmes valued Moore over other prospects that were still on the board at the time when the pick was made. He is a versatile chess piece that can be deployed in different spots along the defensive line, and someone that is a three-down player. You consistently see him play sound football against the run, where he is able to set violent edges while simultaneously keeping his eyes where they need to be.
There were also instances where he dropped into zone coverage and didn’t look lost, which makes me wonder if this coaching staff has plans to insert him at the SAM linebacker position in certain subpackages. And lastly, he has some serious juice when it comes to getting after the quarterback.
You can watch the entire breakdown right here.
