Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has had his body run through the ringer this season.
After returning from a ACL injury, Davies has dealt with persistent issues — mostly of the muscular variety, which have hampered his season.
At his press conference ahead of the VfL-Wolfsburg match, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany announced that the Canadian star had hit another roadblock as he is out for the game due to yet another muscular problem.
“Alphonso Davies is out tomorrow. Based on the scans,
we’ll see how long he’s out for. It’s a muscular issue,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It could very strongly argued that both Davies and Jamal Musiala were allowed to return to play far too early from their major injuries earlier this season. Both suffered setbacks after the initial return and for Davies, it has seemingly been one issue after another. With the Champions League season over and the World Cup ahead, shutting Davies down for the rest of the season could be an option for the Bavarians.
