MVP’s Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano MMA event goes down Saturday May 16th on Netflix and we got our first good look at Rousey and Carano during today’s launch press conference in Los Angeles, California (watch the full presser video here).
There were a lot of questions about how Ronda and Gina would look. Both have been away from the sport for years. Rousey’s last UFC fight was in 2016. Carano hasn’t competed since 2009. “Rowdy” had a whole WWE career and two children since then. Carano came within
inches of a very successful Hollywood career with a growing role on The Mandalorian before getting cancelled over some pretty tame tweets.
This is a fight that’s been on the cooker for a while, largely because both women had to whip themselves back into shape before it could go down. And based on their face off and staredown at the end of the press conference, they’re looking pretty damn good. There was little doubt that the 39-year-old Ronda Rousey could return to athletic form, but Carano also looked in great shape for a 43 years old.

And then there’s Francis Ngannou vs. Phillippe Lins, which was added to the Rousey vs. Carano card over the weekend. While people aren’t too impressed with Lins as Ngannou’s opponent or “The Predator” talking about this as a potential stepping stone to a Jake Paul fight, we have to admit it’s nice that Franny is getting ready to compete in mixed martial arts again. His last MMA fight was against Renan Ferreira back in 2024 and lasted just three and a half minutes.
While he’s also had two extremely lucrative boxing losses, we’re happy to have MMA lineal heavyweight champ back in a cage where he belongs.
Take a look at him towering over Phillipe Lins during their first staredown:
Ticket for Rousey vs. Carano at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles went on sale today at Ticketmaster, with prices starting as low as $65.
