In perhaps the most surprising nomination we have seen in years, Jürgen Klopp is reportedly calling up a player that will shock most casual fans, and perhaps even most hardcore fans. According to reports from Bild and captured by @iMiaSanMia, the German national team coach is calling up SV Elversberg’s Felix Keidel.
Notably, he most recently played 73 minutes for his club side against Bayern Munich in a 2-1 defeat and did a serviceable job of containing a fierce Bayern Munich attack. For those who
didn’t watch that match though, he is a relatively unknown talent, with no disrespect intended.
While Felix Keidel has had a decent start to the season, it isn’t one that exactly merits a nomination so soon. This one is a bit of a surprise but it Klopp surely has his reasons. For now, fans will be a bit skeptical but Klopp will have the opportunity to prove his doubters in just over a weeks time.
